2019 Madness and Cures Sanity Red Blend
Vineyard Breakdown
The 2019 Madness and Cures comes from vineyards that stretch the length of the Alexander Valley, all nestled in cozily against the base of its eastern hills.
Sonoma County
Mounts Vineyard – Dry Creek AVA (43%) – Warmest region of our Sonoma County components. The fruit ripens quickly but will hang longer to allow flavor development. This leads to a riper and jammy style. The Malbec is harvested between 26-29 Brix. The resulting wine provides black fruit and dark inky color to the finished blend.
Skypine Vineyard – Pine Mountain/Alexander Valley AVA (31%) – Highest elevation of our Sonoma County components located the slopes of Pine Mountain in Cloverdale. Hot days, frequent wind, and cold nights prolong the ripening of this Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vineyard. The fruit is picked between 24-26 Brix. The slower ripening and sugar accumulation preserve the natural acidity and tannin structure. The resulting wine provides structure and body to the finished blend.
Napa County
Hyde Vineyard (8%) – Napa Carneros AVA
Beau Terroir Vineyard (18%) – Napa Carneros AVA
Both vineyards are located in the Congress Valley region of Napa Carneros. Coastal winds and cooler temperatures provide a temperate growing season. The fruit is picked between 23-25 Brix. The resulting wine provides spice, perfume, and herbaceous aromatics to the finished blend. It also offers a more rustic mouthfeel to offset some of the fruiter characteristics.
